Mike Harris Mike is a native of this area and has hunted and fished here most of his life. He is a Viet Nam war veteran. He and his wife have made five return trips to S.E. Asia as a Christian missionary, staying a year each time. Mike has taken two moose in Alaska, numerous elk, blacktailed deer, and mule deer bucks. He is also an accomplished fisherman. In 2005 we had very low water conditions and most experienced fishermen said it was too low and clear to fish steelhead. However, Mike figured out a way to catch many. Mike is a retired carpenter and helps us with clients when we need an extra guide. He especially loves helping folks catch their first steelhead or salmon. Dennis Eugene (Spider) Cook Manager of Allegany Outfitters I have lived, hunted, and fished in southwestern Oregon most of my life. I retired from teaching English in 2003 and began setting up Allegany Outfitters as a family operated guide service. My son Corey (at right) had always wanted to be a hunting and fishing guide and I was at a point in life that helping others harvest fish and game was more satisfying than taking game myself.
Gail Cook (center) Gail is in charge of meals for our clients. She makes fantastic home cooked meals, many with elk, deer, and fish from our own hunts. Her elk roast is legendary. And blueberry pancakes with blueberries from our own bushes are a breakfast treat. Some clients leave with fish or game and some do not, but all leave talking about how great the food is. Quite the outdoor lady herself, Gail has taken three elk and holds the family record for the largest fish, a 100 pound halibut caught in Alaska.

Corey Cook - Guide Corey was practically born with a rifle in one hand, a fishing pole in the other, with a bow stuck between his teeth and a pistol at his side and a shotgun thrown in there somewhere. The only occupation he ever considered was to be a hunting and fishing guide. At age 19 he was issued his guide license, maybe the youngest to ever be issued a guide license in Oregon. His own hunting and fishing credentials are impressive. He has taken an elk almost every year since he was 12. By age 16 he had taken an elk with three different weapons; rifle, bow, and muzzleloader. He has taken four mule deer bucks and three blacktailed bucks. To date, he has taken eight black bears. He has untold numbers of chinook salmon, steelhead, and waterfowl. He has also taken turkey with three different weapons and most recently a buffalo. Corey, now 26, is starting a good string of successful clients. To date he has guided eight successful elk hunters, three successful deer hunters and many successful salmon, trout, and steelhead fishers. _______ Organizations we belong to, volunteer with, or donate to: Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Oregon Hunters Association Oregon Guides and Packers Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife Millicoma S.T.E.P.
